“Couldn’t see the forest for the trees.”
As a painter, plein air or in the studio, one spends a considerable amount of time by one’s self, and thoughts will pop up from seemly no where. Today after painting, I was driving back out to the hi-way, and this quote jumped into my thoughts. “Couldn’t see the forest for the trees.” I do not know who came up with this phrase, but for me as a painter it is entirely a true thing! It is my quest to understand through painting, how to truly see what it is I need to, and train my hand to paint in such away that someday the forest’s trees will show up on my canvas.
